PROMOTION HOPES

After their relegation from League One, Bury will be hoping to get back into the third division of English football as soon as possible. They are expected to be one of the front-runners in the bid for promotion from League Two. However, manager Kevin Blackwell has said that he needs to sign more quality players in order to realise this dream. Blackwell may have to wait until the end of the transfer window in order to look for quality players who will be available on a loan deal. Bury recently played against Blackpool in a friendly match and he was extremely happy with what he saw.

His team managed to match Blackpool in almost every department and this has given them a new found confidence that they will be able to get back into the League One in the first attempt itself. John Rooney scored a late equaliser to help Bury come away with a 1-1 draw from the match. Despite this competitive performance, Blackwell has revealed that he can expect more from his team if he managed to bring in a couple of players to strengthen their squad. Recently, the club completed the signing of the Rwandan international Jessy Reindorf.

He has signed a two-year contract with the club.

“We looked competitive – now we have to add that little bit of quality. I’m still one or two players short and trying to get those players in is proving very difficult. I know the players I’m trying to get, but it’s down to other clubs. The season is 11 months long. If we have got to sacrifice four weeks at the beginning of the season, a lot will become very clear on the 31st of August. Players who think they have got a future at a particular club will find out they haven’t,” said Blackwell.
