Bury keeper terminate contract

Bury goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has asked Bury to terminate his contract as he is looking to take a break from football.

He said that it was the most important decision of his life and that he is stopping for family reasons. The player only joined Bury at the start of the season and was supposed to make his debut over the weekend, but he has instead terminated his contract.

He said that he needed some time away from football and that he needed this breathing space. He admitted that it was a difficult decision to take as he has devoted the past 20 years of his life playing football. He said that he needed to spend some time with his family, and this is why he has asked Bury to end his contract.

He said that he is forever grateful to the manager as well as the chairman to have listened to him and to show comprehension. He admitted that it is never easy in the modern game to end a contract, but he believes that the board has shown mercy and have agreed to let him leave without any issue.

Chris Kirkland said that it is normal that some people will question his decision especially when you consider the chance that he has to be still playing top level football. He admitted that it was not an easy decision to take and that he was more interested in spending time with his family rather than playing.

Bury manager said that he understands Chris Kirkland decision to put his family first. He stated that it is very sad to lose a player of Chris Kirkland’s quality, but he believes that he is doing the right thing by putting his family first. He said that the door will always be opened for him if ever thinks of coming back.
