FORMER BURY PLAYER SIGNS NEW DEAL AT CHELTENHAM

Cheltenham Football Club have announced that they are glad to have been able to convince Chris Bussey to sign a new deal at the club. The defender has agreed to fresh terms and has subsequently taken a further step by putting pen to paper on a new contract at the club.


Hussey was signed from Premier League club Sheffield United back in 2018 and has played a huge role in helping the club become one of the best teams inthe division. Since joining from The Blades, the brilliant defender has featured in as many as 100 games for Cheltenham. The appearances have come in the EFL Cup, the FA Cup, and the League Cup respectively.The 32-year-old went into contract negotiations with the club last week as he was nearing the final few months in his previous contract. After being linked with a couple of clubs, he has finally secured his future with Cheltenham for at least another two years with the new deal set to expire in 2023.

He has been brilliant for the League Two club and has cemented himself in the first-team while also making himself one of the club’s best players over the last years. Having played for AFC Wimbledon, Coventry City, Burton Albion, Bury, Sheffield United, and Swindon Town, the wing-back is rich in experience and is one of those players every club wants to keep so the younger ones can learn from.

Michael Duff, Cheltenham manager said after the confirmation of the new contract that Bussey has been a professional player since he arrived at the club. The manager also added that he had no doubts about the defender committing his future to the club while also Praising him for taking care of his body and being so fit even at his age.
