BURY FACE WINDING UP PETITION

Bolton Wanderes defeated Bury on Monday 2-0.

The victory lifted Bolton to second place in the League One. It would definitely add to the confidence in the team following last term’s fight against relegation and poor administration. They outclassed the Bury side at the game played at Gigg Lane. However, Bury have more important things to deal with than the loss.

Bury are in trouble, big trouble. The club’s old ground, that holds the history since 1885, hosted fans from both sides, bearing fading names of fans that chipped in money to save the club during the 2001 insolvency. A Blackburn-based property developer, Stewart Day, owns the club. Millions have been expended on the club yet losses are recorded. Several loans have been mortgaged on Gigg lane, and now there is a winding up petition. There are even unpaid tax issues with Revenue & Customs.

“HMRC appear… to be intent on winding up a football club up and, sadly, as a result of this we have dealt with a number of petitions in recent times, more often than not for tax which has just fallen due for payment.,” Day and the board said in a statement. They claimed the tax is less than one month old and will be paid.

Bury keeper terminate contract

Bury goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has asked Bury to terminate his contract as he is looking to take a break from football.

He said that it was the most important decision of his life and that he is stopping for family reasons. The player only joined Bury at the start of the season and was supposed to make his debut over the weekend, but he has instead terminated his contract.

He said that he needed some time away from football and that he needed this breathing space. He admitted that it was a difficult decision to take as he has devoted the past 20 years of his life playing football. He said that he needed to spend some time with his family, and this is why he has asked Bury to end his contract.

He said that he is forever grateful to the manager as well as the chairman to have listened to him and to show comprehension. He admitted that it is never easy in the modern game to end a contract, but he believes that the board has shown mercy and have agreed to let him leave without any issue.

Bury faces points’ penalty

A 3-point penalty has been slapped on Bury FC for fielding a player who hadn’t been correctly registered.

The process of the registration of the player was fine, but, because of the fact that it was finished beyond the time limit, it happened to be invalid.

Not having the realisation of that, the Bury management used the player, as a substitute in the last match they played in 2015-16.

The illegality of that substitution was picked by the authorities and they came down hard on Bury for that.

Bury has acknowledged the mistake and has decided to show no dissent against the penalty.

The points’ total of Bury has now come down to 57 which means they will be overtaken by Southend United and Swindon Town in the standings of the third tier and will slip to no. 16.
